About My Approach

I come to intimacy work after a decade as a physical theatre artist/yogi/clown/acrobat working in devised and ensemble-based generative processes. I have emerging lived/learned competencies and interest in trans/non-binary intimacy and am an advocate for gender-inclusive spaces. As an acting teacher, I incorporate consent and boundary practices into every subject I teach and encourage the thoughtful analyses of power and privilege which enable consent to be freely given and informed. I see intimacy work as an avenue to personal and collective liberation. Collaborate with me and let’s create more possibilities!

Positionality

I’m a European-American (white), male-bodied, momentarily able-bodied person who identifies as queer/gender non-conforming, trans nonbinary and pansexual. I have cishet-passing privilege, in part because I’m married to someone who identifies mostly as a woman. I grew up in Seattle, Washington as a U.S. citizen, speaking English, and was raised in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. My parents were lower middle class and my childhood was marked by moments of housing and food insecurity. My family has been in North America for 5 – 7 generations and migrated from Germany in the 1800s and France in the 1600s.  I identify as a teacher/artist and come from three generations of teachers and one generation of artists before me. I subscribe to a Tantrik worldview and believe in the divinity and oneness of all things, even amidst our miraculous differentiation. I strive to be conscious of racism and oppression in my teaching, politics, and daily life and to work for the liberation of all beings.

Testimonials

“I worked with Jordan during 14/48, a festival where plays are written the night before, assigned to directors at random in the morning, cast at random, and rehearsed to perform that night. It’s a whirlwind of an experience and having Jordan as an extra trained professional in the room made all the difference. My play included a sexual/climactic moment and Jordan was able to guide us through discussing what we wanted the moment to look and feel like, how realistic or surreal we wanted it to be, and what my actors’ comfort levels were. They collaborated in building the choreography and never felt like they were “taking over” but always had helpful input. Having them as an intimacy coordinator was a great addition to the festival and I would happily work with them again on future plays!”

— Kenna Kettrick, Director, “How I Got Here” by Bret Fetzer & Juliet Waller, the 14/48 World’s Quickest Theatre Festival, 2023

“Jordan Rosin’s work as an Intimacy Choreographer for high school students ranging from 9th to 12th grade, was thoughtfully scaffolded and wholeheartedly welcomed with engagement, consent and embracing individual boundaries. My highest recommendation and warmest gradidtude for all that Jordan offers to the community of theatre and beyond.”

— Ashleigh E. Bragg, The Northwest School of the Arts

“Jordan is reliable, imaginative, thoughtful, and generous. They are an expert at maintaining actor’s boundaries while choreographing specific and creative intimacy. When working one-on-one with actors in rehearsal to coordinating with large groups of extras on set, they integrated easily to our team and played an integral role in supporting the film’s vision.”

— Jayne Hubbard, Assistant Director, ‘Inferno’ (Feature Film)
